Yakutsk warhead - history
Yakutia is a vast area of eastern Siberia. The republic's area is about a third of Europe's, and less than a million people live there. It is one of the most hostile environments in the northern hemisphere, where temperatures of -35 ° C are common in winter, and temperatures down to -60 ° C are often recorded.
In this extreme environment, the Yakuts have developed their own way of life. Although there has been some modernization in the southern part, much of the northern region is still very traditional - with reindeer herders, fishermen and semi nomadic hunters. In this constant struggle for survival, the Yakutsk knife was born. Although the origin is still uncertain, the shape is believed to have been developed by someone who cut the bone lengthwise, sharpened it against a flat rock and used it as a knife. Traditional Yakut knives are hand-forged in the same way as before.
Our Yakutian blades come from Siberia, are made with the same unchanging traditional methods, and are 100% authentic. Each blade is different from the next, which gives it character and soul. These blades work well for any task, from fish and game processing to woodworking. In addition to their functional shape, Yakut blades are also made in left- and right-handed configurations.
Traditionally, handles are made of relatively simple materials, such as birch, birch or birch ;) The shape of the handle is usually a relatively large oval cylinder without guards or similar features, making it very comfortable to use with heavy gloves.
With these blades you have the opportunity to make your own knife with a real Yakutian blade.
Sharpening and maintenance. Don't make the tool too dull. Sharpen your knife on dedicated whetstones and sharpeners. Your tool should be cleaned, dried and oiled regularly. Especially after use in humid environments.
Be careful when using, the tool has sharp edges, risk of injury. Remember to keep the blade pointed outward from the body and away from bystanders. Use with protective gloves, store in a safe place. Keep away from children. Dispose of used product according to local regulations.
