The brass guard provides great protection for the handle of a knife with a hidden-tang head, or a knife with a main Scandinavian with pin. Through the use of a brass head or headstock, the protruding blade shaft outside the knife handle can be forged. Thanks to such a solution, the whole structure of the knife based on the Scandinavian head is significantly strengthened. Brass heads can also be used like spacers in a knife handle.
