TBS Deluxe Fatboy Firesteel is simply a brilliant product. I know that there are about a thousand different types available on the market today, but I honestly believe that you can't get a greater return on every penny invested. The Deluxe Firesteel Fatboy is another step forward in quality and functionality, as it it has an aluminum handle with a removable (and, of course, replaceable) Firesteel Fatboy rod. (12.5 mm diameter)

Aluminum handle is hollow and has a waterproof storage compartment to hold a piece of Quick Fire Tinder ready kindling (or any other hub you choose), making it more of a fire starter kit than just a flintstick. It also has a TBS Striker, which is attached with a piece of 550 Utility Paracord.

The attachment cable has some excellent internal lines. There are 7 normal inner threads that can be found in any 550 string, but there are also:

• Red cord, which is an excellent waterproof kindling.
• Yellow, thinner PE line, ideal for emergency fishing.
• Light brown waxed cotton line, which is a great cord, but perfect for repairing your gear.

Ufeeding a dedicated spark gap emits a huge rain of white hot sparks thanks to the addition of little more combustible metals to our rods. I know a lot of people like to use the back of the knife, but there's really no better than a good sparkplug, and this one just works. It also seems that no one is asking the question "What if you lose your knife or don't have it with you, what then ..?" Of course with a dedicated spark gap you never have this problem.
