How to operate a Feuerhand kerosene lamp?
REFUELING
Open the tank cap and fill the lantern tank with kerosene. Pour fuel into the bulge on the tank. Before the first operation, soak the wick with fuel. Therefore, after filling the lantern, set it aside for about 20 minutes before you light it.
LIGHT THE LANTERN
Lift the lantern's glass cylinder by pressing the bracket on the left side and hooking it to the corresponding notch. The wick, which should protrude from the burner for about 1-2 mm, light with a lighter or match. As soon as the wick is lit, slowly lower the shade using the bracket.
WICK ADJUSTMENT
You can adjust the size of the flame by turning the burner knob. The flame should not be flickering or smoking. A flame of 1.5 to 2 cm in diameter is recommended. Smoking and rapid burning of the wick may suggest that it is pulled too high or not saturated with fuel. Hiding the wick extinguishes the flame. Check if it really went out by turning it up again. Note: Do not bury the wick too deep, as it may fall out of the burner.
LAMPSHADE CLEANING
To clean the shade, pull the chimney upwards. To do this, place your fingers on the carrying handle and use your thumb to pull upward on the lifting eye. The lampshade can now be tilted in the wire holder and removed from the holder.
KNOT EXCHANGE
With the shade tilted, turn the burner handle clockwise and remove the entire component. Remove the old wick and pull the new wick through the hole using the swivel handle on the burner. Remember that even a new wick needs about 20 minutes to absorb the fuel. Only then light the lantern.
