The chair from Mora is an efficient ferrocerium alloy rod that works in all weather conditions. The 8 mm thick bar was made of ferrocerium, a synthetic pyrophoric alloy that, when struck, produces hot sparks that reach temperatures as high as 3000 °C. The chair works even when wet, during rain, snowfall, at any altitude and latitude. A solid rod allows for about 7,000 chairings. In an emergency situation, the caloric sparks of the flint can be used to call for help, and in everyday use also to light a gas grill.
The grip is made of polymer with non-slip texturing. For flinting, it is recommended to use the back of the knife, not its cutting edge. For proper operation, it is necessary to remove the outer protective coating.
