Helle - Nordlys FG knife
Helle - Nordlys FG knife
For the past two years we have worked hard at Helle to create, in our opinion, the best all-around outdoor knife. Even before we released Nord, we knew we wanted to create a smaller sibling. Something that retained the capabilities of many grips and retained the practical shape of our bushcraft blade, but was smaller, lighter and therefore easier to take on daily adventures.
Therefore, we are very proud to present Nordlys. Nordlys means aurora borealis in Norwegian. Lys means both light and beauty. This represents Nord well. It retains all the innovative features of its larger sibling, but packs them into a much smaller package. Nordlys 12.4 cm long handle is 1.3 cm shorter than that of the Nord model, but still provides room for a front grip for finer cuts and a head handle when chopping.
Nordlys FG has a thinner blade (2.1 mm) than the classic Nordlys. They also differ in cut - Nordlys have a Scandinavian cut, while the FG version features a full, flat cut. The blade itself is made of Sandvik 12C27 steel. The knife is lighter in this edition - its weight is 116 grams.
Over the past few years we have tested Nordlys ourselves on long and short hikes, camping and bushcraft trips. Nordlys we prepared food, made kindling for the campfire, threw sparks from iron rods, sharpened sticks, and much, much more. We sent it to our ambassadors and other product testers, who did what they like to do.
The feedback was uniform: with Nordlys, you get a knife that handles well with everything you throw it at, while not making it feel heavy on your belt as you move from A to B. As a result, our new Knife is a good choice for anyone who likes to go outdoors with a knife on their belt, but wants a knife that can also handle heavier tasks, such as chopping branches and preparing firelighters.
