Helle - Fossekallen knife (12C27)
Helle - Fossekallen knife (12C27)
Helle Fossekallen is a versatile outdoor knife. Its name comes from Norway's national bird, the Fossekall, known to us as the ladle. The knife fits well in the hand and provides sufficient grip during prolonged use. This is a slightly smaller knife, ideal for bushcrafters with small or average hands. The knife comes with a leather scabbard.
Helle Fossekallen 12C27 stainless steel blade
This version of Helle Fjellkniven has a Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel blade. It is a hard steel that is not susceptible to rust or unwanted stains. In addition, you can also easily sharpen it yourself if the knife begins to lose some of its sharpness over time. The knife features a "stick tang." This is the traditional way of attaching the blade to the handle, dating back to the days when all knives were still forged. This means that the knife is lightweight,
Helle Fossekallen curly birch wood handle
The handle is made of one piece of curly birch. It is a golden brown wood with a wavy pattern. For this reason, no two handles will be the same. The handle is hand sanded, polished and oiled to give it a unique character.
Helle Fossekallen maintenance
Both the handle and the blade should be dried with a soft towel if they get wet. We also recommend the occasional addition of wax or oil. The scabbard should be impregnated from time to time with a colorless agent (grease or wax) to maintain flexibility. Carefully dry the cover at room temperature if it gets wet. All Helle knives are made and finished by hand. This can lead to subtle differences, making each knife a unique masterpiece.
