Fenix HP16R headlamp flashlight
Fenix HP16R is professional headlamp with a total flux of 1700 lumens, equipped with 3 LEDs emitting focused, diffused and red light, uSB-C fast charging system, and two control buttons. The flashlight has external battery compartment, allowing the interchangeable use of AA batteries.
Modular design
The flashlight has a durable die-cast body made of aircraft grade aluminum. Lightweight aluminum alloy efficiently dissipates heat generated during lighting, and is resistant to mechanical damage, corrosion and weather conditions. The headlamp consists of 3 main components: a luminescent module, a separate power container, and an elastic headband. The external power container has a longer cable for convenient carrying on a helmet or attached headband. The set comes with 7 clips to ensure proper organization and stable attachment of the power cord. There are 3 reflective inserts on the container to increase our visibility when illuminated, as well as a fluorescent positive terminal marking to help when replacing batteries in total darkness.
Advantages of external container:
- It provides even weight distribution, better headlamp stability and comfort,
- allows you to charge the battery while working (built-in USB-C port),
- 2 attachment options: on the helmet or elastic strap.
Thanks to this design Fenix HP16R great for cave exploration, camping, night marching, search and rescue operations, as well as sports activities where prolonged use of a headlamp will be required.
Light for different applications
The main light source of the flashlight is sST40 cool-color LED, which emits a maximum flux of 1300 lumens. Light of white color better illuminates distant places, we also have the impression of much greater brightness. The light of the main diode reflects the smooth reflector, creating a well-focused beam with a maximum range of more than 260 m, useful for exploration, investigating passages and admiring distant objects. Such impressive performance was achieved m.in. thanks to the use of tempered ultra-clear glass with anti-reflective coating with high light transmission, coated and smooth reflector, which precisely focuses the light of the diode. In addition to the long-range emitter, the headlamp uses 2 additional LEDs: XP-G3 with neutral color and red LED light Everlight 2835. Cree XPG-3 emits warm colored light (3500 K) with a high color index CRI 75. This means that colors are better rendered than with cold light, and the illuminated objects look natural. Light from small emitters is scattered with collimating lenses. Wider and evenly dispersed stream will be ideal for illuminating the workplace, camp, will be appreciated by lovers of photography and people who, even during an overnight stay in the woods, will not refuse to read "to the pillow.". Using a flashlight with neutral light in winter, we will avoid unpleasant glare from light reflected from snow or ice. Turning on the white LEDs in maximum mode at the same time, the headlamp generates a total light output of 1700 lumens! Such impressive illumination allows you to illuminate a large cave, slope or forest wall from up to 200 meters away. The flashlight has an adjustable angle of light (up to 60°), which is done by tilting the flashlight module forward.
USB-C charging port
The Fenix HP16R headlamp is powered by a Fenix ARB-LP lithium-polymer rechargeable battery with a capacity of 3,000 mAh, which can be replaced by 4 popular AA batteries if needed. A charged battery provides up to 12 days of operation in low mode scattered light (5 lumens) or 4 hours of illumination of the main diode in turbo mode (1300 lumens). If you want to extend the flashlight's runtime, just plug a high-capacity portable power bank into the built-in USB-C port. The USB-C port provides high charging current of 2 A allowing the battery to be charged in just 2.5 hours. Charging via USB-C port is done without removing the battery from the headlamp. This functional and convenient solution has already been appreciated by many mountain enthusiasts, survivalists and tourists.
Convenient control
Thanks to the use of two buttons, operating the flashlight is very easy and convenient and, most importantly, does not require taking the flashlight off your head. Enlarged on/off switches have been placed at the top of the headlamp for easy location and comfortable operation with gloves.
The switch on the right is responsible for turning on/off and changing the brightness of the focused light, the button on the left performs the same functions for the diffuse and red light.
The long-range LED offers 5 modes of operation (right button):
- Turbo 1300 lumens-for cave exploration and illuminating distant objects
- high 400 lumens-optimal lighting for jogging, night hiking
- average 150 lumens-provides long runtime
- low 50 lumens-discreet light used in situations where you want to work as long as possible.
The diffuse light diode has 3 modes (left button):
- High 400 lumens-optimal lighting for work, camping
- average 150 lumens-efficient light to illuminate a small space
- low 5 lumens-discreet light used in situations where you want to work as long as possible.
The red LED provides 2 modes of operation:
- low- -discreet red light for nighttime applications,
- flashing-warning light.
Comfortable headband
Comfortable carrying of the flashlight on the head is provided by elastic rubber band, which is responsible for comfort and efficient wicking of sweat during exercise. Additional stabilizing strap and a set of clips make it easy to fit the armband to the user, as well as to attach it to a protective helmet.
Advanced security features
The Fenix HP16R features reverse polarity protection (improper battery installation), which can lead to damage to the electronic system. The flashlight also has protection against overheating, initiated automatically when the manufacturer-defined temperature is reached. This model additionally features a lock mode that prevents accidental activation of the flashlight during transport. The flashlight features a high iP66 protection class, which means it is resistant to dust, dust, heavy rain and temporary immersion in water. As a result, the HP16R can be successfully used in all weather conditions, regardless of physical activity.
The parameters shown were obtained under laboratory conditions. Fenix ARB-LP 3000 Li-Po battery was used during testing.
