Fenix BC30 V2.0 is a proven bicycle flashlight in a new improved version, which uses more powerful light output of 2200 lumens, convenient wireless switch and a smaller and lighter design.
The Fenix brand never rests on its laurels, as evidenced by the new BC30 V2.0 bicycle flashlight, based on the innovative BC30 model designed for use in urban environments.
Fenix BC30 V2.0 combines functionality of first generation model and a number of new changes affecting functionality, longer operating time and user comfort.
List of major changes:
white light color,
maximum light output of 2200 lumens,
the lower weight (154 g) and smaller size of the flashlight,
radio switch,
extended operating time,
higher protection class IP67.
Construction
The compact body of the flashlight is made of anodized alloy aluminum, which effectively dissipates heat and provides protection against mechanical damage, rain and dust (IP67 rating).
Thanks to its smaller size, lighter weight and quick release function from the handle, Fenix BC30 V2.0 can also be used as a regular handheld flashlight.
The aforementioned bike mount features a quick-release flashlight function. Removal requires only pressing the locking lever and sliding the lights out of the clamp. The light can also be mounted on the cyclist's helmet.
Special optics
The Fenix BC30 V2.0 flashlight uses two LUMINUS SST-40-N5 LEDs emitting a maximum light output of 2200 lumens with an effective range of as much as 187 m.
This impressive light output excellent road visibility in urban conditions and allows safe off-road travel in areas without lighting.
The emitted light has a neutral white color, does not tire the eyes, provides accurate color rendition and the ability to recognize more details in night vision conditions.
Unlike standard bicycle flashlights, the optical system is designed in such a way as not to dazzle other traffic users.
The specially designed Dual Distance Beam system has an innovative diffuser that more strongly illuminates the road in front of the wheel and disperses the upper part of the light beam. As a result the jet efficiently illuminates our way up to the height of the steering wheel, while not blinding drivers and passers-by.
The light beam is 85° wide, which, both in urban and out-of-town conditions, provides excellent visibility and the ability to react quickly to threats.
Wireless switch
The element that distinguishes the Fenix BC30 V2.0 from the first generation model is the radio switch, the operation of which greatly simplifies the operation of the flashlight.
Smart on/off switch has two buttons for changing brightness and activating turbo mode. The ability to place it within fingertip reach and high responsiveness contribute to the comfort and safety of the ride.
Whether the flashlight is mounted on the handlebars or the cyclist's helmet (additional adapter required), the switch effectively facilitates changing modes.
Modes of operation
Fenix BC30 V2.0 has 5 continuous light modes: eco/edc→low→medium→high→burst and two flash light modes.
Such functionality allows you to adapt the lighting to the conditions on the road and allows you to effectively manage the remaining energy supply. Simple and intuitive operation is an undoubted advantage for any cyclist, especially in urban areas with heavy traffic.
Modes of operation:
- Turbo 2200 lumens
- High 1500 lumens
- Medium 600 lumens
- Low 200 lumens
- Eco/Edc 50 lumens
- Flash 50/600 lumens
Power supply
The flashlight is powered by 2 18650 rechargeable batteries (not included), which can also be replaced by 4 disposable CR123 batteries. The total runtime of the flashlight depends on the brightness mode used, battery capacity and weather conditions.
According to the manufacturer two Fenix ARB-L18-3500 rechargeable batteries provide 150 minutes of operation in high mode or nearly 2.5 days of illumination in economy eco/edc mode.
Battery level indicator
Thanks to the battery level indicator function (LED in the illuminated main switch) and the low voltage warning, we can control the flashlight's operation and manage the remaining power reserve. When you turn on the flashlight, the indicator for 3 seconds tells us the battery status.
Battery level indications:
- green LED on: 100-80%,
- glowing orange LED: 80-40%,
- glowing red LED: 40-10%,
- flashing red LED: 10-0%.
Additional features
Fenix BC30 V2.0 has an IP67 protection rating, which means it is fully resistant to dust, rain, snow, a fall from a height of 1m (on a wooden floor) and a full 30-minute immersion in water at a depth of 1m.
The flashlight also remembers the last used brightness level (memory function), so that when you turn it off and on again, the flashlight will shine in the same mode.
Low battery warning is activated automatically when the defined voltage level drops (flashing battery level indicator LED). In turbo mode, the light activates thermal protection to prevent overheating of the controller.
Mounting on the handlebars
The kit comes with a sturdy bicycle handlebar mount and two spacers to prevent the flashlight from twisting and allow it to fit the size of the handlebars. Installation is very simple and is limited to tightening one steel screw.
