Knife designer Allen Elishewitz lived in the Far East and trained in martial arts for 30 years. This training, along with his experience in a commando unit, gave Allen the perfect foundation for the CRKT Tao Pens defensive writing instruments.

In Chinese, tao philosophy means "way," the fundamental or actual nature of the world. And indeed, these pens reflect the current state of today's world, in which a sudden, unforeseen physical attack can come at any time.

The pen is based on a design that has been sold successfully for years. However, it is different from the aggressive looking products and Kubotans available on the market. It doesn't look threatening but is a useful, high-tech writing device with a chic and modern look. If the owner faces a threatening situation or is attacked, it can be used in 3 ways, depending on the threat.

You can push back, stab or hit an attacker in the head, using the crown of the pen to scare off an opponent with minimal damage to their health.

The second stage is to inflict pain or immobilize the opponent by applying pressure to strategic areas, such as points behind the ears, on or under the armpits.

In the final situation, the pen can be used like a dangerous weapon penetrating sensitive areas like the throat, chest, or abdomen if the attacker does not stop the attack.

All Tao are functional writing instruments, using Fisher's space pen technology, developed for NASA. It has tungsten-carbide ball writing and thixotropic nib, who will write in the penetrating cold, in the baking heat, under water and from any angle, including upside down.
