Corby screw is a type of screw used for for mounting the handle facings of a full tang knife in the process of knifemaking. It is a type of screw that consists of two cylindrical parts.
Handle assembly full tang knife using a Corby-type screw involves drilling holes in the handle covers and the head with the diameter of the inner cylinder, and then partially reaming the holes in the handle to the diameter of the screw head. The covers prepared in this way are screwed together using additionally epoxy glue to strengthen the threads and seal the contact surface of the facings with the head. The head of the bolt is machined together with a wooden handle to achieve the appearance of a brass pin.
The Corby bolt is popular in knifemaking because it allows the handle to be attached in a secure and durable manner, while adding aesthetics to the final appearance of the knife.
