Condor Selknam Knife
Condor Selknam Knife
The Selknam Knife is a rugged survival knife handcrafted by the world-renowned Salvadorian company Condor Tool&Knife.
Designed by Walter Matthews, the Selknam knife honors the indigenous people of "Tierra del Fuego" in the southern tip of Chile, who became extinct between the 19th and 20th centuries. These people were excellent hunters, fishermen and nomads endowed with great endurance and strength.
The Condor Selknam knife features full-tang construction. The head of the knife is 5 mm thick and made of 1075 carbon steel. The knife has convex cut, thanks to which it retains very good cutting properties despite its thickness.
Condor Selkman is a multifunctional survival knife with a design thought out for survival situations.
The back of the knife has a special notch at the base, which serves as a support for the thumb and thus stabilizes the grip and provides greater precision of work. The end of the blade was deliberately extended beyond the handle, resulting in an additional tool so-called breaker used for splitting, crushing and breaking. In the middle of the handle is located a special hollow that serves as a a socket for the seating of an auger for the fire bow. In addition, at the top, in the back of the handle, there is a cutout in which the edge of the blade has been specially ground sharply, i.e. at an angle of 90 °, thanks to which it is perfect for flinting sparks with a modern (iron-cerium) flint. The handle of the knife is made of durable micarta reinforced with three solid steel grommets.
Included with the knife we receive a traditional (blacksmith's) flint and a functional scabbard with a flint holder and a zippered pocket for, for example, a mini sharpener, kindling or flint.
The Condor Selknam knife is recommended for survival and bushcraft enthusiasts who are looking for a sturdy, functional knife for heavy work.
