Thanks to Lars Fält's experience of how to behave in the wilderness and Casström's knowledge of knife making, the result is a knife that you can take into the field with confidence and not worry that it will let you down in times of need.
It's a knife that isn't afraid of hard work, and at the end of the day it will still look great!
Briefly about the Lars Fält knife:
- Hand-finished oiled Karelian birch handle with an ergonomic shape that gives the feeling of warmth and comfort of natural wood.
- Sturdy scabbard, sewn from natural European vegetable-tanned leather with drainage hole.
- High-quality Sleipner steel blade from Sweden's Uddeholm, which holds an edge well even during heavy use, such as splitting wood.
- Scandinavian cut combined with the properties of the steel make the knife durable, effective for wood carving and easy to sharpen outdoors.
About Sleipner Steel
Sleipner allows the knife to maintain a sharp edge very well, for a long time, and also during very intensive use without chipping, which often occurs in stainless and high-alloy steels. The chemical composition allows high-temperature tempering to high hardness while maintaining ductility (the ability to deform without cracking) and toughness with relatively easy sharpening and the ability to produce a very sharp and durable edge. Due to its 8% chromium content, it resists corrosion to some extent compared to ordinary carbon steel (about 0.5% Cr), but not as well as stainless steel (13% Cr). Therefore, the blade should be dried after use and protected with oil or wax when stored in high humidity environments.
Sleipner's steel falls into the category of 8% Cr die steels and was developed to have strength similar to simple tool steels such as O2 and A2, but with much higher wear resistance, closer to D2. Composition: C 0.9% Si 0.9% Mn 0.5% Cr 7.8% Mo 2.5% V 0.5% (HRC 59-60)
