The Benchmade 537SGY-1 Bailout is a "black class" folding tactical knife equipped with a CPM-M4 steel tanto blade, an aluminum taper and anodized aluminum liners.
Premium grade head, made of hard CPM-M4 tool steel.
Benchmade Bailout is distinguished by its tactical design, which is emphasized by the characteristic shape of the head and the military colors of the aluminum facings. The knife has a combo head with a Japanese tanto profile,
CPM-M4 is a high-carbon tool steel hardened to a hardness of 62-64 HRC. It contains large amounts of molybdenum, tungsten and vanadium, that make it unbeatably sharp and wear-resistant. CPM-M4 is a carbon steel prone to corrosion, so be sure to properly and regularly maintain the blade.
When choosing a knife made of such hard steel, use a diamond sharpener, which makes the sharpening process easier and faster.
Tanto blade and a combo blade (partially serrated) provide easy penetration, smooth cutting and a wide range of applications. Serrated part of the blade affects faster and more efficient cutting of ropes, tapes and hard materials.
The head was coated with gray Cerakote thermoset paint, which has high abrasion resistance and protects the steel from corrosion.
Reliable mechanisms and a solid handle:
The blade can be conveniently unfolded with one hand, thanks to the use of a double-sided peg (made of anodized aluminum). This method allows right- and left-handed people to open the blade comfortably and use the knife without removing gloves.
The head lock is reliable Axis-lock, benchmade's flagship mechanism, valued for its immense load resistance, insensitivity to dirt and ease of use.
The knife has green anodized 6061-T6 aluminum facings, which were attached to steel liners, responsible for the rigidity and strength of the structure. One of the advantages of aluminum, in addition to its strength and ability to be precisely machined, is its light weight, which is inevitably linked to the comfort of carrying and using the knife.
Non-slip texture of the facings and the widening at the base of the handle make the knife fit securely and comfortably in the hand, regardless of its size. A wide, high-set clip with an option to translate (left/right), allows the knife to be carried discreetly in a pocket or tactical accessory.
The handle is finished with an an aluminum insert with a carbide pin, which acts as a glass breaker and makes it possible to deal hammer blows.
