Benchmade - 317-1 Weekender Folding Knife
Benchmade - 317-1 Weekender Folding Knife
Traditional folding knife, equipped with two blades, bottle opener and lip-joint locking mechanism.
Every two heads is not one :-)
The Benchmade 317-1 Weekender is for people looking for a classic folding knife that they can take into the woods, under a tent or on a camping trip. The knife has two blades of different sizes and a useful bottle opener. The satin-finished drop point and clip-point blades are made of the highly regarded CPM-S30V stainless steel. Powder steel S30V by Crucible Industries hardens to optimal hardness 58-60 HRC, therefore, it maintains high sharpness for a long time, has high mechanical strength, and is also resistant to corrosion. Thanks to its high vanadium carbide content, the steel is distinguished by its high impact strength, abrasion resistance and excellent cutting properties. The blades are finished using the traditional satin finish technique.
Folds out like a traditional pocket knife
Unlike modern folders unfolding the blade on the Benchmade 317-1 Weekender requires the use of two hands. The classic way of unfolding the head with nail cutout refers to knives from the early 20th century. The knife also does not have the typical locking mechanism. The safety function is performed by a strong spring that locks the unfolded wedge (slip joint). Thanks to this design, the knife can be legally used in most EU countries.
The Benchmade 317-1 Weekender model uses stylish micarta facings. Thermoset fiberglass and canvas laminate has high mechanical strength, resistance to moisture, temperature and most solvents and acids. Minimalist cladding has a rough texture, which improves the grip of the knife. The rigidity and strength of the structure is ensured by steel reinforcing inserts. Due to the traditional nature of the knife, it does not have a pocket clip.
