Brazilian ebony Swartzia tomentosa is a hard and heavy wood with a straight grain. It is almost black in color but the distinct grain pattern is still visible to the naked eye. The wood has a vibrant depth of color when first cut but takes on a darker, bolder look after oxidation. The wood is extremely hard and dense, so it is highly sought after in every craft.
