Para 3 FRN Cobalt-Blue SPY27 Plain an ultralight, compact version of the outstanding Para Military 2, one of the best E.D.C. Cladding in elite color Cobalt-Blue reserved for knives with a steel blade CPM SPY27. Manufactured at the Spyderco factory in the USA (Golden, Colorado).
Spyderco has long been considered a leader in the use of exotic, high-performance steels for knives. After years of using the best materials that leading steelmakers could provide, the company decided to create its own alloy. In partnership with Crucible® Industries has developed its own stainless steel CPM SPY27, where SPY refers to Spyderco, a 27 is the atomic number of of cobalt (Co).
CPM SPY27 - a proprietary blend of alloys, including vanadium, molybdenum, niobium, nitrogen and cobalt. Includes 1.4% carbon and 1% doped with niobium (Nb), one of the best carbides, which contributes to the steel's wear resistance. Thanks to its properties, the steel keeps its sharpness for a very long time and guarantees aggressive cuts for a long time. Easy to sharpen, corrosion resistant, contains 14% chrome. Provides good strength and retention of the cutting edge, as well as a fine-grained structure. This unique steel is produced at steel mills Crucible Particle Metallurgy (CPM).
Compression-Lock - (similar to Liner-Lock) patented by the company Spyderco (Made in USA) head locking mechanism. Extremely durable, provides extreme strength and ease of use. Located on the back of the handle, it secures the knife from inadvertent closure. When releasing the lock, fingers are not in the path of the folding head.
Head - laser-cut with modified profile Clip Point, thickness 3.7 mm. Glare eliminating coating Satin Finish (semi-mat). Plain blade Plain brought out full flat grind (Full Flat Grind) to increase cutting properties and reduce the weight of the knife. Enlarged 14 mm round cutout SpyderHole (Spyderco patent) to open the knife, even with a glove. Notched thumb support, ramp (spine jimping) and (finger choil jimping), notched finger undercut pointing between the handle and the cutting edge make the knife easier to work with.
Handle - in cobalt blue. Made of plastic FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon), fiberglass-reinforced nylon, features bi-directional non-slip textured facings Bi-Directional Texturing providing a perfect grip, even with greasy or wet hands. The ultralight design of the handle facings and the open-backed construction of the so-called "open-backed" design. open-backed, reduce weight by almost 30 percent compared to a folder with a handle G-10. Made made of wire, screw-on clip (left/right) allows knife to be carried in tip-down position tip-down (tip down).
