The new and improved version of the Ranger S compass has m.in. new color scheme, graphics, and an attachment cord that makes it easy to measure distance while hiking thanks to the scale on it (1:25 and 1:50).
Silva Ranger S is a plate compass equipped with a mirror. The opening case has been protected with plastic to improve grip and protect the compass capsule.Handy, openable case allowed to minimize the size and protect the valuable interior.
The plate (base) is made of high-quality durable plastic, in which a movable limbus with a scale in degrees is located. Inside the ring there are lines for accurate bearing and a scale for making a correction for magnetic declination. The rotating handle (limbus) is equipped with a specially designed gumed DryFlex™ grip , which allows you to confidently move it by entering the correct bearing on the scale regardless of weather conditions. It also works when operating the compass with a gloved hand.
On the base of the compass is a millimeter ruler and two scales for reading distances from a map; 1:50,000 and 1:25,000. The Ranger has illuminated (fluorescent) characters on the needle and on the limbus, with the help of which the compass can be successfully use also at night.
