Savotta Kantamus 60L backpack - olive
Cantamus 60L is the larger model in the Cantamus line of backpacks. Large, versatile backpack for days. The internal aluminum frame can withstand heavier loads, and the adjustable shoulder strap allows it to fit users of different heights. Scalable and compressible to accommodate changing needs. The capacity of the main backpack is approx. 60 liters, with additional space of approx. 12 liters in the flap and multiple external attachment points for additional side pockets and gear.
"Kantamus" in Finnish means "load carried," usually something slightly heavier that is carried. Cantamus is a general-purpose backpack, suitable for a variety of uses. Scalability and compression allow the backpack to adapt and adjust to changing situations and needs, while the internal aluminum frame provides rigid support and weight transfer.
With a main compartment with a capacity of approx. 60 liters, plus 12 liters in the lid, the Cantamus 60L will accommodate sleeping systems, extra clothing, food and water for longer multi-day trips. Numerous external attachment points for pockets and additional equipment allow you to customize it to your needs.
Main backpack body
The main compartment is accessible from the top with a roll-up closure and a vertical zipper on the right side. Inside, there is a compartment for a reservoir with two attachment loops and a strap to secure the reservoir on top. Each side of the backpack has one port for a tube.
A side zipper on the left side leads to a large, flat compartment on the front of the backpack. Suitable for things like tarpaulins and other flat packing equipment.
The sides and front have generous PALS webbing for attaching additional pockets and gear. Bottom has two rows of PALS webbing for securing gear with packing straps or elastic cord.
Two side compression straps with SR buckles on either side of the backpack provide both compression and a way to carry long, bulky tools and gear, or quickly attach additional cargo, such as the Hatka 12L backpack equipped with matching buckles.
Slightly convex side pockets allow you to carry long tools, etc. They are relatively flat and low, not designed to carry water bottles, etc. for this purpose, we recommend adding a GP pocket to the waist belt.
Floating cover
The lid has a large main compartment with a capacity of approx. 12 liters, accessible through a zipper on the neck side. When filled, the lid "balloons" and when emptied it lies flat and tight. Great for rainwear, down jackets, etc. When tightened, the lid compresses, holding the contents tightly. The top of the flap has an elastic cord for attaching light equipment. The underside of the flap has two rows of PALS webbing, ideal for attaching a sleeping pad or other gear. Z
the front of the flap has a small zippered pocket with a D-type buckle loop, perfect for small items and valuables.
Tip: the flap can also be removed and replaced with, for example, our Askare hip pouch or Hatka 12L backpack equipped with the appropriate buckles (not included with the backpack). This allows the Cantamus to be transformed into a modular carrier system.
Carrying system:
Internal tubular aluminum frame provides Cantamus with rigidity and good weight transfer to the hips. The back is padded with thick and rigid closed-cell foam, housed in a compartment with a Velcro closure. The pad can be removed and used as a seat/ kneeler, and the baffle can be used to carry other gear, such as a tarp or poncho.
The padded harnesses attach to steel D-rings, allowing for adjustment. The height of the harness attachment is adjustable to fit users of different heights, from approx. 165 to 195 cm. The load lifters can be threaded through two webbing loops to adjust the point at which they come off the harness to fit the height and preference of the user. The chest strap is detachable and can be moved up and down the harness as needed.
Hip belt consists of two sewn pieces of 50 mm webbing with PALS channels. The rest of the lap belt (the three pads and the front buckle straps) is threaded onto them. If necessary, each part of the belt can be removed and replaced without sewing. The belt fastens with a super-secure Berg buckle, very easy to use, even with thick and cold gloves.
Durable and easy to repair
The main part of the backpack is made of 1000D Cordura for high abrasion resistance, while details such as the rear pad compartment and roll top are made of lighter and less rough 500D material. The zippers are covered and have two zippers, so you always have a spare in case one fails.
If the buckle is damaged, the lid, shoulder straps and waist belt can be easily removed and replaced without the need for sewing or specialized tools, allowing for easy repair over the life of the backpack.
