The Jääkäri XL is an original, incredibly durable backpack made by Savotta, a Finnish company that specializes in manufacturing m.in for the Finnish army.

The Jääkäri XL is an improved model of the LJK modular parachute backpack, originally designed for the Finnish armed forces. Authentic user experiences have already been taken into account when designing the backpack, and the best of many ideas were used to create the Jääkäri XL.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The carrying system is based on the venerable LJK paratrooper backpack frame made of aluminum tubes - offers a very wide range of height adjustment for a perfect fit. This backpack is designed to carrying extremely heavy loads, as his military predecessors have done since the early 1980s.

Rolled top at the top, a zipper at the bottom and an internal compartment allow you to use the main compartment of the backpack as you wish. After opening the inner partition the main compartment turns into one huge, abyssal space, enabling the packing of very large and long items. Bottom zipper for quick access to any gear, which you need most during the day, and the retractable top guarantees protection from heavy weather conditions providing protection for your equipment.

Lower compartment the zippered pocket has internal elastic compression straps and four small mesh pockets to organize equipment. Zippered pocket in the lid provides secure storage for wallet, keys, travel documents and phone.

Rolling top closure, floating lid and side compression straps provide a wide range of adjustability depending on the volume of the package. Fasten it tightly or loosen it depending on the load being carried. Compression straps allow you to attach additional gear to the outside of the backpack if needed. External side pockets on the bottom can be used to hold tools, tripods, etc. Pinned to the sides of the backpack.

Hydration chamber is attached to the inner rear wall. Pipe feedthroughs on both sides allow hydration tank tubing to be routed to the left or right, leaving the second port free for other uses such as antennas or cables.

MILITARY GRADE MATERIALS

Most of the materials we use in our commercial production are the same materials that we use in equipment for the Finnish Armed Forces and other defense and security customers. Our most commonly used fabric in cargo handling equipment is extremely abrasion resistant Cordura 1000D, according to FDF specifications, with polyurethane coating on the inside. The webbing and edge tapes we use are, again according to FDF specifications, strong polyester tapes in various widths and thicknesses for different applications.

Our green and M05 camouflage materials and accessories comply by default with the FDF's strict specifications for NIR reflectivity levels, which should be, since the same materials are used in official military equipment.

MODULARITY

PALS straps on the waist belt, sides, lid and bottom of the backpack allow you to strap on additional loaders and gear. This system offers numerous options to configure the package to fit your specific needs. However, not only for cargo holds, PALS webbing can also be used to attach tool belts, shock cord, carabiners, etc.

Hip belt can be removed from the frame and used as a stand-alone equipment belt. With the appropriate pouches attached, it can be used instead of or in conjunction with a small backpack.

HEIGHT-ADJUSTABLE CARRYING SYSTEM

When carrying heavy backpacks over long distances, it is extremely important that your backpack fits well. The hip belt and length-adjustable suspenders can be moved up and down the frame, to fit users 160-200 cm tall. LJK aluminum outer tubular frame prevents sagging of luggage and transfers weight to the hips, even when loaded with heavy and bulky cargo.

Both the suspenders and waist belt are generously padded with thermo-molded closed-cell foam. Shoulder straps are S-shaped and include a removable chest strap. Forward tension adjustment on the waist belt is easy to tighten even under load. Side release buckle for quick and easy opening when needed.

LJK EXTERNAL FRAME

The LJK frame was originally designed by Savotta in the early 1980s for paratroopers of the Finnish Defence Forces as part of the LJK backpack. It has since been adapted to various other applications and backpack models and continues to perform well. In addition to the Finnish military, we still use it as the base of some of our commercial external frame backpacks.
