Portable Smoker - Muurikka Outdoor Smoker Retro
The Muurikka Outdoor Smoker Retro is a portable, compact smokehouse that is perfect for camping
The product was awarded in the international Scandinavian Outdoor Awards 2020 competition!
"If you love to smoke your own fish, meat or vegetables while hiking or camping, the Muurikka Outdoor Smoker will be perfect for you. Compact dimensions (40 x Ø 16 cm) and fairly light weight (about two kilograms) make it easy to carry in a backpack or kayak. Without wood chips also works well as an outdoor oven. It is made of stainless steel and has a cylindrical shape that provides better air circulation inside than rectangular designs."
Muurikka's original smokehouses have a recognizable cylindrical shape and have been produced in Finland since the late 1990s. Without wood chips, this smokehouse can be used as an outdoor oven! Easy to use and clean thanks to the draining board under the grate. Stainless steel can be cleaned with fresh water and scrubbed with sand. This specific shape, which Opa originally introduced in the late 1990s, allows for shorter cooking/smoking times for food because the hot air circulates more efficiently in the round smoking cabin.
How to prepare a smokehouse for smoking?
The Muurikka Outdoor Smoker Retro is suitable for use around a campfire as well as on charcoal grills, gas grills or burners that can accommodate a smoker. Using the smoker on a campfire, just spread the wire legs on the ground or place the leader on the stones so that you can prepare a small campfire under it. Spread wood shavings, such as alder, evenly on the bottom of the smokehouse (they can be additionally moistened) and insert a steel drainer. Place the gutted fish or other meat on the grate, close the lid and place the smoker over the fire.
