Nordic Knife Design - Head Stoat 100
After leaving as co-owner of Bris, Dennis Holmbacka founded Nordic Knife Design. Founded by a knife industry veteran as a designer and trader, NKD may be a new name, but behind it lies decades of experience. NKD knives are often minimalist in detail and have an elegant design, features that many would call traditional Scandinavian design. Form follows function. NKD uses the best factories used by many other top brands. With these blades, there is no question of quality issues.
It is a slender blade with design features known back to feudal Japan. The kwaiken daggers often had a long belly and a curved back. The Stout 100 head has similar features, and with its rather thick blade 3.7 mm is really durable.
Head Stout 100 was made from Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel, which is an improvement on 12C27 steel used by many manufacturers around the world. The 14C28N steel from which Stout is made has a low carbon content (about 0.6%), but thanks to the addition of nitrogen, a higher level of blade hardness is achieved. Nitrogen addition also improves steel's corrosion resistance and edge retention.
The head has 3 mounting holes that fit Corby type screws (4.6 mm) or ordinary metal rods.
