Smuk (so-called. ridge line) is the rope connecting the ends of the hammock. It makes it easy to hang it up, allowing you to adjust the degree of tension on it for optimal lying comfort.
The essence of comfortable rest and accommodation in a hammock is its appropriately loose hanging, which makes it possible to sleep the Brazilian way - diagonally. Hanging a loose hammock each time requires proper suspension adjustment. With a chord, adjustment is hardly necessary at all - the right level of slack is set only once.
The use of a chord ensures that the hammock is kept in the same shape every time it is hung up - it will be just as comfortable regardless of the degree of tension and the angle at which the suspension lines are inclined.
The Smuk chord set consists of:
- chords - adjustable in the range of 240-300 cm
- a hook to prevent the chord from sliding out of the hammock
- installation and use instructions
We made the Smuk chord from impregnated Dyneema rope of negligible weight (5 g/m) and very high strength (750 daN) using the method of braiding ropes used, among others, in sailing and arboriculture. The bead strung on the chord protects against excessive shortening and damage to the string.
Mounting and adjusting the Smuk chord takes just 3 minutes and is feasible for any hammock that uses lines with a diameter of max. 4mm - it is compatible with all models of Lesovik hammocks. To make the task easier, the set comes with illustrated instructions.
In the new version of the Smuk Chord, we have reduced the number of mounting components, making the chord even faster to install, easier to use, safer and, above all, lighter - we have reduced the weight of the chord by more than 50%! In the military version, we used stronger, graphite Dyneema - faintly noticeable from just a few steps away. The cable has a strength of more than 900 daN - the equivalent of a 900 kg load!
When camping, the chord works great as a line to dry clothes, to hook up handy equipment, to hang a flashlight.
The Smuk chord combined with the Smuk suspension creates the complete Smuk Suspension System - the most convenient and fastest way to effortlessly hang up your hammock. The photo in the gallery with the Spirit clearly visible shows a perfectly hung hammock using the full Smuk System.
