Helle - Knife - Wabakimi Sleipner Steel
Helle - Knife - Wabakimi Sleipner Steel
Designed by survival expert Les Stroud and built like a tank. Wabakimi is the perfect knife for the relaunch of a new tool steel in our range: Sleipner.
Sleipner is a high-alloy tool steel developed by Uddeholm that provides a good balance between strength and edge retention. This makes it a good fit for a small knife that will have multiple uses for different purposes.
Wabakimi is such a knife. Developed as the last of our line of knives together with Les Stroud, it combines the knife handling expertise of a real outdoorsman with the history and craftsmanship of the Helle team to create a knife that is short and stocky in the best possible way.
Wabakimi has a half-full tang design, in which the steel blade is visible along the back of the handle, but not toward the fingers. This makes the knife better suited for the cold climate of the far north. It also gives the knife extra strength, thanks to its thick and sturdy full-length bolt construction. Ridge works great as a hook for iron rods.
The rich, birch handle is hand-sanded to its final shape and has a beautiful satin finish. Smooth and rounded shape makes it an excellent tool for long and hard work without overheating. The mandrel is held in place with two thick brass rivets and a pipe rivet on the back side.
The knife is supplied in a classic leather scabbard to be worn at the belt.
As a tool steel knife, the knife will rust when exposed to water or moisture over time. Wipe and re-lubricate after use.
