Construction
The body of the Fenix PD36R Pro flashlight is made of made of hardened aluminum, subjected to HA-III hard anodizing process, which makes the flashlight's tube and head resistant to scratches, abrasion and mechanical damage.
The milling of the body and its geometric profile prevent the flashlight from slipping from the hand, and provide excellent grip.
The PD36R Pro also features a steel clip allowing not only the attachment of flashlights on the armour.
A detachable clip also prevents the flashlight from rolling off an inclined surface. The flashlight is equipped with a new control system, consisting of two rear buttons with different shapes and functionality.
Light
The light source is a new generation diode LUMINUS SST70 LED, emitting a maximum light output of 2800 lumens at a distance of as much as 380 m.
Cool-neutral light color reduces eye fatigue, provides more natural color reproduction and greater detail. The flashlight uses anti-reflective glass with high light transmission and a smooth reflector, providing a concentrated beam of light with a strongly illuminated center of the scene. This design results in a concentrated light beam that can illuminate objects up to 380 m away.
The user has at his/her disposal 6 light modes:
- turbo,
- high,
- medium,
- low,
- eco
- strobe
This allows you to customize your lighting. Sumar operating time of the flashlight in the 2800 lumens turbo mode is nearly 3.5 hours!
This is the result of a modern diode with relatively low current consumption and a very efficient battery.
Power supply
The flashlight is powered by a cell type 21700 with a massive capacity of as much as 5000 mAh! The battery used has twice the capacity of a standard 18650 cell, which obviously translates into tremendous performance and impressive runtime.
The PD36R Pro is equipped with uSB-C type charging port, enabling very fast charging of the cell. Just a 10-minute charge can provide as much as 5 hours of 150 lumens of operation! The USB-C port also allows the flashlight to be charged using a power-bank, greatly increasing the flashlight's mobility and capabilities. The socket is protected by a rubber plug, which protects against moisture, water and dust.
The battery level indicator function (LED in the body) warns of low voltage and allows you to control the flashlight's operation and manage the remaining power supply. After starting the flashlight, the indicator for 3 seconds tells us the status of the battery.
Battery level indications:
- Luminous green LED: 100-85%,
- flashing green LED: 85-50%,
- glowing red LED: 50-25%,
- flashing red LED: 25-1%.
Switches
The flashlight is operated by 2 rear switches:
- large round button responsible for turning the flashlight on/off
- a smaller function button for changing the brightness of the light, and activating flash modes.
The buttons are located close to each other, and they are easy to feel even when wearing gloves. The flashlight can be comfortably operated with one hand even in total darkness.
The memory function causes the last used light mode to be automatically selected the next time the flashlight is activated.
Security
The flashlight uses several safety systems:
- Reverse polarity protection,
- low voltage warning
- "smart protection" against overheating.
High protection class IP68 guarantees, resistance to total immersion in water (30 minutes at a depth of 2 m), dust and dirt and drop.
