The Benchmade 15017 HUNT is a compact hunting knife for skinning and field work, featuring a wide blade made of CPM-S30V powder steel, a stabilized wood handle and a sheath made of natural leather.

The knife has a 71 mm long fixed blade, made of American CPM-S30V stainless steel.
Powder steel S30V by Crucible Industries is hardened to an optimum hardness of 58-60 HRC, so it maintains a high sharpness for a long time, has adequate mechanical strength, is also resistant to corrosion.
Thanks to its high vanadium carbide content, the steel is distinguished by its high impact strength and wear resistance, as well as its excellent cutting properties. Therefore, due to the high hardenings and the nature of CPM-S30V steel, we recommend using diamond whetstones for sharpening.
When choosing a hard-steel knife, get a diamond sharpener, as sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very labor-intensive and inefficient.
The blade has a satin finish (polishing technique), which eliminates glare and emphasizes the utilitarian style of the knife.
The wide flat-ground blade has a distinctively rounded belly, which, combined with the utilitarian drop point profile, provides excellent cutting performance and high durability against damage.
On the back and front of the back, there is a transverse milling, which create a stable point of support for the fingers. This simple convenience allows the knife to be handled comfortably and accurately, which for the hunter is crucial when gutting game.
The larger size of the blade and 3 mm thick blade, cause the Benchmade 15017 HUNT can also be used for other outdoor applications such as bushcraft and survivalism.
Beautiful and comfortable handle
The element that is responsible for the comfort of the knife is, of course, its handle.
The knife has stylish stabilized wood facings attached to the bolster with screws.
Stabilized wood during processing is soaked in resin, which provides better stability of the material, high hardness, resistance to water, changes in humidity and temperature, as well as the action of many solvents and acids.
The handle has beautiful brown and black grain, which perfectly emphasizes the hunting character of the knife.
A stable grip on the knife is guaranteed by profiled shape of the handle and scalloped ribbing of the dorsal part of the shank. In the back of the grip there is a hole designed for a thong or paracord.
To carry the knife safely at the belt, there is a sheath made of natural leather, closed with a metal drive.
