Benchmade 9070SBK Claymor is a military automatic knife whose "explosive" and reliable design is inspired by one of the most famous directional mines.

The Benchmade 9070SBK Claymor knife uses cPM-D2 premium steel with impressive retention, lightweight Grivory laminate cladding and an armored lock that sets a new standard for durability. The result is a lightweight and reliable tactical knife for people who are looking for uncompromising solutions.

Blade

The blade is made of expensive CPM- D2 steel hardened to 60-62 HRC. CPM-D2 is a powdered air-hardened variant of D2 steel, but with much higher retention and a modified carbide microstructure that makes the blade eminently wear-resistant, impressively long-lasting in sharpness and at the same time quite easy to sharpen. However, it is worth remembering the proper maintenance of the knife, so that the knife will serve reliably for years to come. When choosing a knife made of such steel, it is worth getting a diamond sharpener, as sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very labor-intensive and inefficient.

Slender blade drop-point with a length of 86 mm, covered black cerakote coating, which protects against corrosion, minor scratches and emphasizes the tactical nature of the knife. The wedge has a a strong hilt and a flat grind, which guarantees smooth cutting and easy penetration. The head at its widest point is as much as 2.9 mm thick. Perfectly sharp cutting edge, strong stab and flat grind ensure aggressive cutting, and good penetration. The back of the blade is serrated, making it easier to cut hard (e.g., plastic and bone) and fibrous materials (ropes, belts, webbing).

Knife operation

The main advantage of the automatic knife, is comfortable and ultra-fast unfolding system. Unlike models with an assisted head, in an automatic knife unfolding of the blade requires only pressing a button, which is responsible for releasing the lock and activating the strong spring.
Folding the blade requires pushing the button again and manually retracting the blade. Such functionality makes the "automats" very popular among soldiers, uniformed service personnel and edc enthusiasts. The enlarged release button is embedded in a milled cutout, so it does not protrude above the handle. The knife uses an additional locking mechanism, which protects against accidental unfolding of the blade during handling and provides additional safety during operation.

Handle

The Benchmade 9070SBK-1 Claymor has contoured Grivory plastic facings in black. The glass-epoxy laminate used is characterized by light weight, high mechanical strength, resistance to water, temperature change, and the action of many acids and solvents.
The handle, which features a modern tactical design, primarily provides a stable, comfortable and reliable grip. The handle in the central part and at the base of the knife is wider, and has been applied on its surface with moled inserts, thanks to which the knife has practically no possibility of slipping out of your hand. To increase the reliability and durability of the design, the knife uses solid steel liners. Discreet carrying of the knife in the pocket is made possible by the high-set clip with the possibility of attaching on two sides of the facings.
