Fenix PD40R V Flashlight2.0

Fenix PD40R V2.0 is a small edc flashlight with a maximum light output of 3000 lumens, equipped with a rotary switch, uSB-C fast charging port, battery level indicator and powerful 21700 battery with 5000 mAH capacity.

Construction

The flashlight tube is made of anodized aerospace aluminum A6061-T6, which contributes to its light weight and provides resistance to mechanical damage. Transverse surface mottling prevents the flashlight from slipping from the hand and gives it a modern look.

The optical system is protected by a crown (raised head elements), which protects the glass in case of a fall or setting on an uneven surface.

The flashlight measures only 138 mm, its weight with the 21700 5000 mAh battery is less than 200 g, therefore, it can accompany us not only on a trip, camping or hunting, but also in our daily activities.

Thanks to the use of a spring clip (detachable), the flashlight can be attached and carried on the belt, by the backpack or bag, so that it is within easy reach when needed.

In the new edition of the flashlight, the manufacturer has dispensed with the rear switch, with the result that the flashlight has gained a new function called "candle mode. candle mode, that is, the ability to position the light vertically. This allows you to illuminate the interior of a tent, room or other confined area where light can reflect evenly.

Universal lighting

The light source is a new generation LUMINUS SST70 LED, emitting a maximum light output of 3000 lumens at a distance of up to 405 m.
White light reduces eye fatigue, provides more natural color rendition and better visibility of details.
The flashlight uses anti-reflective glass with high light transmission and a smooth reflector, so that a wide beam of light can effectively illuminate objects up to 405 m away. Such parameters of optics allow not only to illuminate distant targets, but also to work effectively in confined spaces, so the Fenix PD40R V2.0 will work wonderfully as a tourist flashlight, a flashlight for hunters or tactical lighting.

Modes of operation

Flashlight offers 4 modes of constant light: turbo, high, medium, low and 1 flash mode: strobe. Fewer has a great impact on the functionality and clarity of the interface.

Most of us use only 2 or 3 light modes in our daily activities, so following the voices of users, Fenix has intentionally limited their range of modes.

The element that sets the Fenix PD40R apart is the turbo 3000 lumens, in which the flashlight operates for up to 160 minutes! In low 30 lumens mode, the flashlight lasts almost 4 days.

Rotary mechanical switch

W Fenix PD40R a mechanical rotary switch is used to turn on and change the light mode. The ring works in a smooth way, its operation is instinctive and convenient in daily use.

Mechanical switch is reliable and safe, and its operation does not interfere with the magnetic field.

Power supply

The flashlight is powered by a 21700 type cell with a capacity of as much as 5000 mAh! The cell used has nearly twice the capacity of a standard 18650 cell, which affects performance and extended run time.

According to the manufacturer, the 21700 battery allows as much as 160 minutes in turbo mode and nearly 4 days of operation in low mode. By attaching the ALF-18 adapter, the flashlight can also be powered by a standard 18650 cell.

Battery level indicator

With the function of battery level indicator (LED in the body) and low voltage warning, we can control the operation of the flashlight and manage remaining energy reserves. When you turn on the flashlight, the indicator for 3 seconds tells us the status of the battery.

Battery level indications:

• green LED on: 100-85%,
• flashing green LED: 85-50%,
• glowing red LED: 50-25%,
• flashing red LED: 25-1%.

Fast charging port

Fenix PD40R V2.0 has an integrated USB-C type charging port, allowing you to charge the cell very quickly without removing it from the flashlight. The 21700's 5000 mAh battery charges in just 3.5 hours!

The USB-C port also allows the flashlight to be charged from a portable power-bank, greatly enhancing the mobility and capabilities of the Fenix PD36R. The socket is protected from moisture, water and dust by a rubber plug.

Security

The flashlight uses several safety systems m.in. reverse polarity protection, low voltage warning and "smart protection" against overheating.

High protection class IP68 makes the flashlight resistant to total immersion in water (30 minutes at a depth of 2 m), dust and dirt, and dropping.

The parameters shown were obtained under laboratory conditions. The battery used during testing was Fenix ARB-L21 5000 mAh.
