Fenix PD36R flashlight

Fenix PD36R is a small tactical flashlight with powerful light output 1600 lumens, maximum range 283 m, powered by a powerful 21700 5000 mAh battery, charged via USB-C port.

Construction

The body of the Fenix PD36R flashlight is made of made of hardened aluminum, subjected to HA-III hard anodizing process, which makes the flashlight's tube and head resistant to scratches, abrasion and mechanical damage.

Compared to the earlier PD35 v2.0 model, it is smaller, even more handy and comfortable to use. The milling of the body and its geometric profile prevent the flashlight from slipping from the hand, and provide excellent grip.

The PD36R also features bi-directional steel clip allowing not only to mount the flashlight on the armor, but also on the cap, so the PD36R can also act as an function as an improvised headlamp.

The detachable clip also prevents the flashlight from rolling off an inclined surface. The flashlight is equipped with two switches: a rear switch to activate the light (momentary and steady) and a side switch to change modes.

Light

The light source is a new generation diode LUMINUS SST-40, emitting maximum light output of 1600 lumens at a distance of as much as 283 m.

Cool-neutral light color reduces eye fatigue, provides more natural color reproduction and greater detail. Due to its tactical nature, the flashlight uses a sMO smooth reflector, providing a concentrated beam of light with a strongly illuminated center of the scene.

The user has at his/her disposal 6 light modes: turbo, high, medium, low, eco and strobe thus allowing you to customize the lighting to your needs. It is worth noting that the total runtime of the flashlight in 1600 lumens turbo mode is nearly 3 hours!

This is the result of a modern diode with relatively low current consumption and a very efficient battery.

Power supply

The flashlight is powered by a cell type 21700 with a massive capacity of as much as 5000 mAh! The battery used has twice the capacity of a standard 18650 cell, which obviously translates into tremendous performance and impressive runtime.

The manufacturer states that with daily use of the flashlight for 5 hours, the 21700 battery allows up to 23 days of work! In addition, thanks to the function of the battery level indicator (LED in the side switch) and low voltage warning, we can control the operation of the flashlight and manage the remaining power supply. Each time you turn on the flashlight, the indicator for 3 seconds tells us the status of the battery.

The PD36R has a built-in uSB-C type charging port, allowing very fast charging of the cell. With just a 10-minute charge, it provides as much as 5 hours of 150-lumen operation! The USB-C port also allows the flashlight to be charged from a portable power-bank, greatly enhancing the mobility and capabilities of the Fenix PD36R. The socket is protected from moisture, water and dust by a rubber plug.

Switches

PD36R is equipped with two switches: main (rear) and side one for changing modes. Tactical button activates momentary light and permanent illumination. The steel side button is responsible for changing the brightness of the light and turning on the strobe.

Thanks to the memory function, the last used light mode is automatically selected the next time the flashlight is activated.

Security

The flashlight uses several safety systems m.in. reverse polarity protection, low voltage warning and "smart protection" against overheating. High protection class IP68 makes the flashlight resistant to total immersion in water (30 minutes at a depth of 2 m), dust and dirt, and dropping.
