Casstrom - Double-sided leather belt for sharpening and polishing - Field Strop
Casström knives are sharp right out of the box, and to help maintain that sharp edge, a proprietary range of handmade leather straps has been created.
Field Strop is a pocket-sized option and has a handy size to take on outdoor excursions.
What is the leather sharpening belt used for?
The strap is used to keep the knife edge sharp. It's easy to use, and if you sharpen every time the knife has been used, the sharpness lasts longer, which means you don't have to sharpen the knife as often as with other coarser sharpening tools, such as a diamond or whetstone.
You use the strap by putting the edge of the knife against the skin and pulling the knife toward the back of the knife. Repeat the procedure about 20 times on each side. One side has a rougher surface and the other a softer one. On the thicker side, if you want, you can apply polishing paste to increase the sanding effect.
